Helmholtz resonator – candle

Experiment no.: 5.3.903
Helmholtz-Resonator – Kerze
A Helmholtz resonator is an acoustic resonator, here in form of a bottle-shaped metal vessel. If the vessel is excited with a tuning fork at the right frequency, an air flow is created with which a candle can be blown out!
