Torricelli's beaker

Torricelli's theorem states that when a liquid flows out of a vessel, the outflow velocity is proportional to the square root of the height of the liquid. It does not depend on the type of liquid; so, for example, when filled to the same height, water and mercury will flow out of the vessel at the same velocity.
