Newton's third law of motion can be demonstrated in two ways with this experiment:
Variant 1: A ball can be thrown in such a way that it leaves the system of cart and rail. The thrower moves in the opposite direction to the ball.
Variant 2: The ball can be thrown onto a wall that is connected to the cart so that the ball does not leave the system of cart and rail. The thrower has then (almost) not changed its position at the end of the throw.
