Freezer thermometer

A freezing thermometer consists of a bimetal that is rolled into a coil spring. If the thermometer is cooled with liquid nitrogen, it is easy to see how the spring contracts.

Caution: Experiment with LN₂ (eye damage and cold injuries possible)!
