Magdeburg hemispheres

Experiment no.: 8.4.14
Magdeburger Halbkugeln
Two hemispherical shells with a diameter of about 19 cm are joined together and evacuated. With a good vacuum, i.e. with an air pressure difference of approx. 1000 hPa, a force of at least 2.8 kN would be necessary to tear these hemispheres apart.
We ask for your understanding that we cannot provide horses for this experiment.
