Bicycle pump (heating by compression)

Experiment no.: 8.3.4
Velopumpe (Erwärmung durch Kompression) Revised since 12/24
Air is pumped into a vessel using a bicycle pump. The heating of the air is measured with a thermometer and the rise in pressure with a barometer. It is shown that pressure and temperature increase when pumping quickly. It can also be shown that isothermal compression occurs during slow pumping, i.e. the pressure rises while the temperature remains constant.
