Pendulum above electromagnet

The period of oscillation of a pendulum depends on the length of the pendulum and the gravitational acceleration. In this experiment, the gravitational acceleration can be artificially increased by using an electromagnet over which the pendulum swings. If the electromagnet is switched on, the pendulum is attracted more strongly and therefore swings faster.
