Hinged pendulum

With small deflections, a pendulum with a hinge in the middle (similar to Rott's pendulum) can execute two different normal modes of oscillation. If the pendulum is strongly deflected, it executes chaotic oscillations that can be observed by means of the lamp mounted on the pendulum.
