Rott's pendulum

This pendulum consists of two pendulum arms that are coupled together. One pendulum arm is long and can rotate about its point of suspension. The other pendulum arm is short, rigid and has a large mass. If the pendulum is strongly deflected it executes chaotic motion. Normal modes of oscillation can be generated with small deflections.
