Transition temperature of BaTiO₃

Umwandlungspunkt von BaTiO<sub>3</sub>

A BaTiO₃ sample is placed between two crossed Nicol prisms, allowing the optical activity of the ferroelectric domains to be shown. If the sample is heated above the ferroelectric Curie temperature of approx. 120 °C, it loses its optical activity.
