"Polarised wave" model

Two iron rods with spirally mounted spikes illustrate circularly polarised light. If you turn the rods in the direction of their orientation (right or left-handed helix), the wave appears to move in the direction of the axis of rotation, as seen by an observer viewing from the side. This is a very elegant experiment!
