Cart with He and CO₂ balloon

The inertia of a balloon filled with CO₂ causes the balloon to tilt in opposite way of the direction of acceleration when the cart is accelerated. If a balloon filled with He is used, the ambient air, which is heavier than the He and therefore more inert, moves against the direction of acceleration when the car is accelerated, and the He balloon tilts in the direction of acceleration.
